Jorge L. Quijano

The first male to have joined the cheerleading squad as the Alexander High School mascot, Jorge received his Bachelor of Arts with a major in Communication and a minor in Marketing (cum laude) from the Texas A&M International University. He has brought numerous marketing awards to the City of Laredo through his current and former employers. Jorge has assisted either as a participant or with Public Relations for other nonprofit organizations such as the Laredo Little Theatre, LITE Productions, Laredo Theatre Guild International, PILLAR, I Love Laredo, and Laredo BorderSlam, to name a few. His list of hobbies and interests go on and on, but he mostly enjoys photography, theatre, karaoke, and lending a helping hand.

Ramiro Hernandez Jr. is a native Laredoan and part of the 3rd graduating class of the Garcia Early College High School. He is a proud alum of Texas A&M International University (BBA ‘14, MPA ‘17) and is currently a student of the first doctoral cohort at St. Edward’s University in Austin, Texas. Before starting work at the University of Texas at San Antonio, Hernandez served at A&M International and Laredo College.

Moved recently from California, Krisma is excited to bring her activism and volunteerism to Laredo. While formally educated in sciences, as noted through her bachelor and doctorate degrees, a passion of hers lies in bringing positive and forward moving change to underrepresented communities. Currently she resides on the Board of Leaders for Partners in College Success and volunteer for Border Angels, both non-profit organizations from her hometown of San Diego. She is excited to be a part of GCPA assisting in its goal to educate, unite and honor the LGBTQIA+ community.

Born and raised in Laredo, TX, Jesus has dedicated over a decade of his life to progressive activism, advocating and actively fighting for issues such as racial justice, women’s rights, immigrant’s rights, voting rights, and the inclusion, equality, and acceptance of the GRSM (Gender, Romantic, and Sexual Minorities) community. He hopes that, through his life’s experiences, both good and bad, he can be an example on how to overcome adversity through self-love, acceptance, and humility, and believes in teaching others to engage in meaningful dialogue through sound logic and rationality. Also, he has a cat named Pancakes.

Mayra L. Ramirez

Born in Mexico, Mayra moved to Laredo, Texas at a very young age with her family. She is an Alumnus of Texas A&M International University where she obtained her BS in Criminal Justice, class of 2009. She has worked with various court systems for the past 19 years and is currently employed with the United States Federal Court in the capacity of Judicial Support Specialist where she has excelled for over 11 years. Mayra is a strong believer in “work hard; play hard” and as such she is an avid traveler, enjoys staying active, but most of all loves spending time with family and friends socializing.
